Iván Duque won the Colombian presidency last year promising to change the peace deal between the government and the guerrilla group Farc that ended a 52-year war in 2016. On March 10 this year, Mr. Duke kept his word. In a televised address, he raised six objections to a law governing the operation of a court known as the Jep, which investigates and sentences FARC and members of the armed forces for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Although Congress passed the law in 2017 and the Constitutional Court upheld it, Mr Duque sent it back to the legislature. "We want to really guarantee truth, justice, reparations and peace that doesn't happen again," he said. But his decision is a blow to the peace process.
